We at Jupiter Civil understand the critical role of communication during project development. Our goal is to exceed our clients' expectations.
The answer to this question actually depends on the agency asking for it (in other words their definition). But general concepts can be said about both. Record Drawings are typically the original permitted design drawing annotated after construction occurs in such a way so that the reader of the document understands what was or wasn't constructed. Usually a record drawing crosses out language that is proposed in nature and replaces it with affirmative language in the past tense. For example, a note that says "proposed concrete" may be crossed out and replaced with "installed concrete," thus giving the "record" of what was actually built. The term "Record Drawing" seems to imply the "full" record of what was built.
As-builts are similar to record drawings, however in practice they tend to focus on the information that is gathered by a surveyor, such as final elevations and locations. One might consider an as-built to be a limited version of a record drawing. But it may have the same definition, based on who is defining it. As-builts are usually created on the original design drawing titleblock.
"Survey as-builts" may slightly differ from an "as-built" in that it may be entirely prepared by the surveyor on their own titleblock (using the engineer's linework as a starting point). They may also have the same meaning as as-builts, depending on the jurisdiction.
Bottom line: Please understand the requirements for record drawings/as-builts before creating them.
The typical agreements that we have with our clients include reimbursement for printing, reproduction, mileage, courier and postage. Reimbursement shall be provided at cost plus a 5% markup for processing.
We also may offer in-house printing, reproduction and courier service for convenience of our clients. In-house printing is offered for print jobs of 20 sheets or less at a rate of $2 per sheet. Print jobs greater than 20 sheets will be fulfilled at a local print shop as per above (printing cost plus courier).
We typically use Uber Connect for courier service, however we may utilize our in-house courier whenever the opportunity exists for the client to save money. We will discuss with you if we think a courier is needed (based on project deadlines, etc.) prior to charging for a courier.
Postage it typically provided via FedEx Express Saver, unless other arrangements (such as next day) are made by the client.
